M Ensemble Company is Florida's oldest and longest-running Black professional theater company, founded in 1971 on the University of Miami campus by T.G. Cooper and his wife Grace, along with Patricia Williams and Shirley Richardson. The company's mission is to promote African-American culture and experiences through the performing arts, presenting musicals, contemporary, classical, and original plays. In its first 35 years, M Ensemble produced over 150 plays and has become an emerging Major Cultural Institution in Miami-Dade County. Since 2016, the company has operated as the resident theater at the Sandrell Rivers Black Box Theater in Liberty City.
